What's New For the 2021 Ford Transit Connect?

The 2021 Ford Transit Connect upholds its well-earned reputation as a practical choice for anyone in the market for a compact passenger or cargo van. Some of the new changes featured in the 2021 Ford Transit Connect include the lane-keeping system bundled to adaptive cruise control and the compressed natural gas/propane conversion available with the 2.5-liter engine. While there are various options available here, Ford did drop the taxi prep package for 2021.

2021 Ford Transit Connect Trims & Features

The Ford Transit Connect is offered in the base XL, the mid-level XLT, and the top-level Titanium trim level. The XL and XLT models offer several configurations, while the Titanium trim is only available as a passenger van.

The XL and XLT are configured as either a cargo van or passenger wagon van. Ford also offers both trim levels on either a short wheelbase or a long wheelbase. Either configuration of the XL and XLT trims can also come equipped with a rear liftgate as well.

All 2021 Ford Transit Connect models come equipped with a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder engine that produces 162 horsepower and 144 lb-ft of torque. Ford also offers a 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder engine for fleet customers that produces 169 horsepower and 144 lb-ft of torque.

All of the 2021 Ford Transit Connect models are powered by front-wheel drive and offer 8-speed automatic or auto-manual transmission. The fuel economy for the 2-seater models is a combined 25 miles per gallon, and the 6-seater passenger variants get a combined 26 MPG.

Ford Transit Connect Safety

Some of the safety-enhancing features that come standard base on the XL trim include the forward-collision warning system with auto-emergency braking and a 4.2-inch central display screen. The safety upgrades standard on the mid-level XLT trim includes a 6.5-inch display featuring Ford's Sync 3 infotainment system and Co-Pilot360, equipped with lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, automatic high beams, and lane-departure warning.
