2021 Ford Ranger

What's New For the 2021 Ford Ranger?

The 2021 Ford Ranger gets some updates to its cabin and its exterior. The Ranger can now be outfitted with a special off-road package that adds to its handling on challenging terrain and gives it a hardier, more durable exterior appearance. The 2021 Ranger is now available with more creature comforts at the base level, including dual-zone climate control. You can also get the Ford Sync 3 system on the base model called the XL. A few other trim-specific changes to note include changing to a six-way adjustment for the front passenger's seat on the Lariat trim.

Which Trims & Features Are Available in 2021?

Aside from the newly available amenities and slight interior change to the Lariat, there are few new comprehensive changes to the Ford Ranger in 2021. The first trim is the XL. The XL has 16-inch steel wheels, but 17-inch aluminum painted wheels are available. Larger 17-inch wheels are standard on the XLT, which is the second trim level, and the top trim has 18-inch wheels with several different finishes. The XL has single-zone climate control and optional two-zone climate control, while dual-zone temperature control is standard on the XLT. The Lariat, which is the top trim, has a push-button start.

All three have an auxiliary input jack and USB charging ports. Base-level technology includes a 2.3-inch productivity screen, which can be upgraded to a color 4.2-inch screen. The larger screen is standard on the second trim, along with a larger eight-inch touchscreen that houses the infotainment controls. Cloth seats and vinyl floors are standard on the base trim, while the second and third trims have carpeted floors. The Lariat has leather seats.

Raw Power and Stellar Performance

All three trim levels of the Ford Ranger have the same engine in 2021. They get the four-cylinder, 2.3L turbo engine that also powered the Ranger in 2020. The Ranger's engine cranks out 270 HP, and its torque output is more than 300 LB-FT. The engine gives the Ranger a tow rating of 7,500 pounds. One change for the Ranger in 2021 is the transmission, which is still automatic but now has ten speeds. This transmission replaces the earlier nine-speed automatic.

Technologies to Keep You Safe

The 2021 Ford Ranger gets Ford's CoPilot360 safety suite with forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and pedestrian alert. Parking sensors are added to the top Ranger trims, along with blind-spot monitoring.
