2023 Ford F-150 vs 2023 Ford Super Duty

Ford's F-Series has long been dominant in the light and heavy-duty truck segments. While the F-150 is a clear leader in the light-duty category, the Super Duty dominates the heavy-duty segment. However, it's important to note that the F-150 is not just a smaller version of the Super Duty, nor is the Super Duty simply a larger F-150. Both trucks possess unique characteristics, making them formidable leaders in their respective classes.

Performance

Light and heavy-duty trucks have vastly different performance capabilities, and rightfully so. The F-150 comes equipped with a 3.3L V6 base engine that delivers 290 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. On the other hand, the base Super Duty engine is a 6.8L V8 gas engine that churns out 405 horsepower and 445 lb-ft of torque. Both models offer multiple engine choices, with the F-150 maxing out at 430 horsepower and the Super Duty topping out at a whopping 500 horsepower. The Super Duty also boasts an impressive 1,200 pounds of torque.

Appearance

As a light-duty model, the F-150 sports a more agile and streamlined design. It features a high-strength, military-grade aluminum alloy body and a high-strength steel frame. On the other hand, the Super Duty received a complete redesign this year, with a new front-end design that includes a prominent grille and vertical LED headlights. Both models offer new features such as tailgate-down cameras and cabin views of the bed.

Features

Ford's commitment to its customers is evident in the new interiors of both models. The trucks feature a center console that doubles as a workspace, perforated leather seats for added comfort, and dual 12-inch screens for the front passenger. While perforated leather is available throughout the Super Duty lineup, it is also an option for the F-150, along with real wood trim. Both models feature Ford Co-Pilot with automatic emergency braking and lane departure warning.
