Ford Vehicle Service Warning Indicators

Safe drivers pay attention to their dashboard's indicator lights. These lights tell us when our vehicles have issues that require attention. Today, we want to explain ten important warning indicators found in modern cars.

Airbag Fault

Airbag Fault

Your auto's airbags are part of its secondary restraint system. This indicator monitors that system. If it glows, a fault exists somewhere in your SRS. Since your collision safety relies on your airbags and seat belts, seek immediate service when you see this light.

Low Fuel Level Warning Light

Low Fuel Level Warning Light

As your gasoline supply diminishes below one gallon, this light will shine. We recommend you avoid the stress of running out of gas. Find a station for a few gallons as soon as you see this indicator.

Oil Pressure Warning Light

Oil Pressure Warning Light

When your oil pressure drops below a minimum value, this light appears. Safely stop and check your oil level. If your oil level is sufficient, you must seek service to address your low pressure.

Service Vehicle Soon

Service Vehicle Soon

You'll see this light when it's time for an oil change. The manufacturer bases this light on miles traveled, which varies by model. For proper maintenance, a technician will change your oil and filter, and they will perform all other maintenance indicated for the given mileage. They will also reset this indicator.

Tire Pressure Monitoring System

TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System)

This required system tells you when you have low tire pressure. When you see your TPMS light, fill any low-pressure tires to the level recommended by your car's maker. A constant TPMS light when your air pressure is sufficient indicates that your sensors need replacement.

Slip Indicator

Slip Indicator

This useful light indicates that your traction control or vehicle stability control is engaged due to lost traction. In most cars, this light briefly flashes when either feature engages. If the light burns constantly, your traction system needs repair.

Charging System Warning Light

Charging System Warning Light

This system includes your battery and the circuit that charges it. If the light glows during a drive, safely stop your vehicle. You need expert service.

Brake System

Brake System

When you see this indicator, a fault exists in your brake system. You will not lose braking power when this light initially appears, but you should have your system serviced very soon.

Open Door Warning Light

Open Door Warning Light

This familiar light tells us when we haven't closed all our doors. Safely close the appropriate door before you commence your drive.

Coolant Level Warning

Coolant Level Warning

Please do not run your car when this light shines. It tells you that your coolant level is insufficient to keep your engine within its safe temperature range. Cars will not drive far with overheating engines, and extreme temperatures cause major repairs.
