Now in its 6th generation, the 2020 Ford Explorer has been entirely redesigned from the ground up. As America's all-time best-selling SUV, the 2020 Explorer has an amazing pedigree that will now offer more power, space and technology. The all-new rear-wheel-drive architecture improves the Explorer's off-road capability and maximum towing capacity. A new, quieter cabin has been crafted to be a sanctuary for all passengers, and there are more than a dozen new standard features over the previous model.
The 2020 Explorer comes in four different trim lines - XLT, Limited, ST and Platinum. In addition to these four trims, the Explorer also comes in a hybrid version. All Explorers have power liftgates, three-zone automatic climate control and three-row seating. Auto high-beam headlamps can detect poor lighting conditions and switch on to better illuminate the road ahead.
A rear view camera is standard along with a washer system to make sure you can always see what's behind you. The all-new Terrain Management System allows the driver to select from seven different drive modes with an elegant dial in the center console. A colossal 10.1-inch portrait-style touchscreen is also available.
Powering the 2020 Explorer is a wide range of engine options that have been refined for quieter performance and better fuel efficiency. A 300-hp turbocharged 2.3-liter inline-four, a 365-hp 3.0-liter twin turbocharged V6, and a growling 400-hp 3.0-liter V6 (available only on the ST) are your choices here, as well as a hybrid 3.3-liter V6 with a single 44-hp motor. The transmission is an impressive 10-speed automatic that also has a manual shifting mode for spirited driving.
Safety and security options are plentiful in the new Explorer, bundled together in a package called Co-Pilot 360. AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control (RSC) helps maintain control on different road conditions such as ice or gravel. Seat Belt buckle alarms are available on all seats, and a front passenger knee airbag inflates between the passenger's knees and the instrument panel. Lane-Keeping Assist and Lane-Keeping Alert are available along with a forward sensing system. Pre-Collision Assist with automatic emergency braking and a pedestrian detection system ensure that you will be kept safe. The Explorer can also come with the all-new Adaptive Cruise Control with Speed Sign Recognition, a system that uses cameras to read speed signs and adjust the speed accordingly.
The 2020 Ford Explorer represents the best in features, performance and value in an incredible package. The reputation for building outstanding vehicles has just been magnified with the release of the new Explorer, which sets the standard for feature-packed, highly-capable utility vehicles.
