In 2019, the Ford Transit and the Ford Transit Connect both give consumers something new and exciting to look forward to. The Ford Transit offers just minor adjustments across all three trim levels, while the 2019 Ford Transit Connect gets more substantial changes. One of the biggest highlights of the 2019 Ford Transit is a change to a longer wheelbase. This provides the Transit with more interior space and more room for cargo.

The Ford Transit also gets some slight changes to the standard features that it offers. This year, more amenities are standard than before. Particularly noteworthy in the 2019 Ford Transit Connect is a change to its mechanical system that includes two optional gasoline engines and a diesel engine. You'll find more standard safety technology in the 2019 Ford Transit Connect, too.

2019 Transit Trims & Features

In 2019, both the Ford Transit and the Ford Transit Connect are produced in three trim levels. The base trim of the Ford Transit seats two people, while the two higher trim levels can hold up to 15 occupants. At a minimum, you'll find the essentials for a comfortable ride in the Ford Transit. This includes single-zone air conditioning, USB charging ports, a driver's display screen, and an infotainment system. The 2019 Ford Transit also includes a number of storage systems that help to organize and store your accessories and equipment in a safe and effective manner.

Cargo tie-down hooks are standard on the lowest trim level, while center consoles are included in all three trims. Multi-way adjustable seats and leather seats are offered on the higher trim levels. The 2019 Ford Transit Connect has a seating capacity for seven occupants across all three trim levels. Dual-zone climate control is standard, even at the base level. An auto-dimming rear-view mirror is standard on all three trim levels, as are 12V power outlets in the front and back rows. The base trim level comes with a 4.2-inch driver infotainment display screen, while the highest trim level comes with a 6.5-inch infotainment display screen with navigation and an AM/FM radio.

The base engine in the Ford Transit is a 3.7L, six-cylinder gasoline engine. One optional engine is a six-cylinder 3.5L engine with an EcoBoost mode that boosts the Transit's performance capacity and maximizes its fuel economy. The second engine choice is a 3.2L diesel engine. No matter which engine you choose, the Ford Transit comes with a six-speed automatic transmission. There are also three engines available in the Ford Transit Connect. The base engine is a 2.0L, four-cylinder engine that features direct injection technology. If you want a slightly more powerful gasoline engine, you can upgrade to a 2.5L engine with four cylinders. There is also a 1.5L diesel engine that is paired with a heavy-duty battery to give the Ford Transit Connect optimal power and towing potential. Front-wheel drive is standard on the Ford Transit Connect.

Standard safety amenities on the 2019 Ford Transit include airbags in the front and along the sides. The seat belts are also adjustable and created with pre-tensioners. A backup camera, anti-lock disc brakes, and a post-crash alert system are also standard. In the Ford Transit Connect, you'll find the same passive safety technology. This van also comes with more standard driver-assist safety technology. Standard on all three trim levels is forward collision alert with pedestrian detection, which is new for 2019. This package also includes trailer sway control and curve control.
