Specs at a Glance

Celebrated for its towing and hauling prowess, the 2026 Ford Super Duty remains one of the most capable heavy-duty pickups. Drivers appreciate its strong performance, modern tech features, and comfortable cabin. Many will compare the XL and Platinum trims when shopping - here's how they compare.

Performance

The XL is equipped with a standard 6.8-liter V8 gas engine rated at 400 horsepower and 445 lb-ft of torque, with an available 7.3-liter V8 producing 430 horsepower and 485 lb-ft of torque. The Power Stroke diesel is available for peak towing capability: the standard diesel generates 475 horsepower and 1,050 lb-ft of torque, and the high-output variant produces 500 horsepower and 1,200 lb-ft of torque.

The Platinum offers most of the same high-power options but does not offer the 6.8-liter gas engine; it comes standard with the 7.3-liter gas engine and includes a standard 4X4 drivetrain.

Appearance

The XL's rugged, function-first styling makes it an excellent everyday work truck. Standard steel wheels and telescoping tow mirrors emphasize utility over flair.

The Platinum brings a more upscale look with exclusive styling cues and 20-inch alloy wheels, and it upgrades lighting to LED projector headlamps and LED taillights instead of the XL's halogen headlamps.

Features

The XL includes SYNC 4 on an 8.0-inch touchscreen with wireless smartphone connectivity, plus a 5G Wi-Fi hotspot, vinyl upholstery, and trailer sway damping.

The Platinum stands out with luxury features including climate-controlled front seats with Active Motion massage, a head-up display, a 12.0-inch navigation touchscreen, a B&O premium audio system, and premium leather upholstery.
