Ford To Invest Billions for America's Shift to Electric Vehicles

Electric vehicles are the wave of the future, which is why we at Westway Ford in Irving, Texas, are proud to offer hybrid vehicles that help reduce fossil fuel emissions in the environment. With the recent debut of the fully electric Ford F-150 pickup truck, that trend will only continue to grow. Ford is committed to furthering the electric vehicle market thanks to the most significant investment ever by an American automobile manufacturer through its plans to plans to create two technologically advanced manufacturing facilities in Tennessee and Kentucky. Ford has invested $11.4 billion in the facilities, which are expected to create almost 11,000 new jobs.

Ford plans to build these facilities, which will produce future generations of electric F-series pickup trucks and batteries to power Ford and Lincoln vehicles, with its partner, SK Innovation.

The Stanton, Tennessee facility, called BlueOval City, will reinvent how the company will manufacture its vehicles and batteries. Approximately 6,000 new jobs will be created at the plant to assemble the planned expanded lineup of Ford pickup trucks. The facility will also include an SK battery plant along with critical suppliers and recycling facilities. Once the plant is fully operational, it is expected to be carbon neutral with zero waste to landfill. This facility will have an on-site wastewater treatment plant plus recycling options for scrap, end-of-life vehicles, and lithium-ion battery recycling.

The new 1,500-acre plant in the central Kentucky town of Glendale will create 5,000 jobs and become a dedicated battery manufacturing facility. The site will have twin battery plans that will supply Ford's North American assembly plants for powering the next generation of Ford and Lincoln electric vehicles. The target date for opening is 2025.

In addition to the two new manufacturing plants, Ford will also invest $90 million in Texas, part of a nationwide $525 million investment across the United States for job training and career readiness initiatives that will transform the auto technician industry. Retraining technicians will concentrate on supporting Ford's growing number of electric vehicles.
