The recent wildfires in Los Angeles, CA, have resulted in extensive, devastating damage, leaving many individuals without homes and numerous businesses destroyed. Despite the losses inflicted by the fires, the local community has received support from the auto industry, including the classic American automaker Ford Motors. Ford has announced plans to help affected community members and first responders as they begin the process of recovery and rebuilding.
How is Ford Helping?
Ford dealers from 13 states in the Western US, alongside Ford Philanthropy, have contributed to the California Community Foundation's Wildlife Recovery Fund. They have donated a total of $465,000 to provide local organizations in California with the essential supplies and resources needed to assist community members. The funds raised by Ford and its philanthropic branch also benefit the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation. In addition to supporting the broader LA community, Ford is helping displaced residents by offering discounted prices on Ford vehicles and deferred payment plans. Ford further provides free electric chargers for customers purchasing an electric vehicle, and its employees can take paid time off to help with wildfire recovery efforts.
What Organizations Does Ford Support?
Through its donations, Ford is aiding multiple organizations working in the LA area. The American Red Cross, Feeding America, World Central Kitchen, and Team Rubicon benefit from Ford's support. Collectively, these groups are providing ongoing assistance to LA wildfire victims as they rebuild following the fires. The Red Cross continues to offer shelter and vital supplies to those displaced, while Team Rubicon supplies longer-term resources as victims wait for their homes to be rebuilt or restored. Both Feeding America and the World Central Kitchen remain committed to providing meals and food to affected community members.
Special Electric Vehicle Support
Owners of Ford and Lincoln vehicles located in the FEMA disaster area are eligible for special Ford incentives. This includes reimbursement for all-electric vehicles charged at a charging station from January 7 - 31. Additionally, local Ford dealerships can provide free charging adapters to customers who have lost their homes or are using an electric vehicle to support disaster relief efforts. Ford is also offering free replacements for customers whose home charging stations were lost in the wildfires.
