Adaptive cruise control (ACC) with stop-and-go technology is one of the most useful and innovative safety features on your Ford. The technology is standard on some Ford models, but it may also be available based on your trim level. Sometimes intelligent cruise control is bundled together with other Ford safety aids to help you stay as safe as possible while driving.
What Is Ford Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)?
ACC is a sensor-activated advanced safety aid. It helps your vehicle maintain a safe following distance to avoid hitting the car ahead of you by adjusting your Ford's speed to match the speed of the vehicle in front. Along with setting your car's speed, intelligent cruise control, with stop-and-go technology, can adjust the following distance between your car and the next. Ford's ACC is an intuitive system that monitors traffic conditions to make driving easier and more convenient for you.

Setting Your Speed and Following Distance

With Ford's ACC system, you can adjust your car's cruising speed as well as the distance that you prefer to keep between your car and the car in front of you. If you want to set a cruising speed, start by pressing the "On" button on the switch that controls your Ford's cruise control. The button will be located on the car's steering wheel. You'll know when the adaptive cruise control system has been activated if you see a green-colored cruise control symbol illuminate on the car's infotainment display screen. After turning on cruise control, bring your vehicle up to the desired speed level. Once you've reached a speed that you want to maintain, hit the "Set" button located on the switch for cruise control and take your foot off the accelerator. The car will maintain your pre-selected speed without you having to make manual adjustments.

Adjusting the distance from your car to the car ahead is just as easy. The car's cruise control switch also has arrows that point up and down. Pressing the "up" arrow on the switch increases the following distance between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you, while hitting the "down" arrow decreases your following distance. Adaptive cruise control provides you with four distance settings that you can choose from based on the distance you want to maintain from the next car. To cancel adaptive cruise control, just hit the brake or press the "cancel" button for the system on the steering wheel.
