With the first official day of fall only a few weeks away, it won’t be long until the weather begins to change! Check out these tips to get your vehicle ready for the fall and help keep yourself and others safe on the road.
Check your battery
You will want a fully charged battery when you go to start your vehicle when the weather gets chillier. You can bring your vehicle into Westway Ford and have one of our trained technicians check and/or replace your battery. Some signs you might need a new battery could be corrosion or difficulty starting the vehicle on the first try.
Check and change your oil
Regular checks on oil life can save you time and money in the long run from preventing a leak and prolonging your vehicle’s life. Refill all of the fluids in your vehicle, including washer fluid, brake and steering to the necessary levels to allow for proper operation.
Get a car wash
It might sound like a silly tip, but it’s always great to have a fresh start to a new season. Take your vehicle to the car wash, vacuum the interior, and wipe everything down.
Check all the vehicle’s lights
Have a friend or family member sit in the driver’s seat and turn on all the vehicle’s exterior lights. From the head and taillights to the brake lights and flashers, make sure everything is working properly! Be sure to replace any of the bulbs that are out or seem dim to avoid endangering other drivers or being pulled over.
Check your brakes
The brakes are one of the most important parts on your vehicle. They need to be working properly all year round but specifically in the fall and winter months when you need to come to stops quicker due to bad road conditions and weather.
Check tires and tire pressure
As the weather changes, so does your tire pressure. Before fall begins, be sure to check your tires for wear and tear and if they are good to go, then check the pressure. You can typically find the ideal tire pressure on the outside of your tires.
