According to past predictions for the future, we're supposed to have flying cars by now. Unfortunately, it looks like we probably won't see those any time soon - but we are getting closer to fully automated vehicles. Ford is considered one of the pioneers in self-driving technology, and your friends at Westway Ford will explain some of the projects our favorite automaker is working on.
Ford's European division is developing a fully automated self-parking system - which will be even more advanced than the Active Park Assist feature already available in your favorite Ford models. Ford owners are currently able to parallel park with ease thanks to this technology, but Ford vehicles will soon be able to navigate and maneuver any parking spot - without the help of the driver.
If you're not familiar with Active Park Assist, the function allows the driver to control the gas, breaks and gears while the car does the rest to successfully parallel park your Ford. Future technology will allow the driver to simply press the button to activate the system: the vehicle then finds a suitable spot and parks, all on its own.
What else does Ford have up its sleeve when it comes to automated driving? The automaker is also working on Obstacle Avoidance technology - which will help drivers detect obstructions and perhaps even break or steer around them.
Both of these new technologies are still in the prototype stage, but we think they'll be well worth the wait! In the meantime, stop by Westway Ford and check out our huge selection of vehicles with Active Park Assist technology!
