What's New For the 2020 Ford Escape?
The 2020 Ford Escape is a compact SUV that has been redesigned for the new model year. This popular SUV has a more sculpted and aerodynamic exterior with a redesign of the liftgate. The hybrid version of the Escape is back for 2020, and the gas-powered engines will provide some additional horsepower increasing acceleration.
The interior of the Escape has been redesigned to be more spacious. The back row of seats can go forward and provide a total cargo area of 38 cubic feet. There is slightly less space in the hybrid model. There is more legroom in the rear, so taller passengers will have a more comfortable ride.
The Escape Has Many Features Across Several Trims
The Ford Escape is available in gas-powered and hybrid trims. The S trim is the base trim in the gas-powered line. This vehicle has the entire suite of Ford Co-Pilot 360 safety features that includes a rearview camera.
The SE trim provides the convenience of the Ford Sync 3 system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. A 10-way power driver's seat and heated front seats are standard on the SE.
The SE Sport Hybrid provides many of the same features as the SE, but this vehicle has a hybrid engine for increased fuel efficiency.
On the SEL trim, there are more standard technology and safety features. For instance, the SEL trim offers a hands-free liftgate and a reverse sensing system to provide safety while backing into a parking space.
Drivers get the whole package of features with the Titanium trim. A highlight of this trim level is the Bang & Olufsen sound system that comes with ten speakers located throughout the Ford Escape. The Titanium trim also comes with Active Park Assist 2.0 that provides assistance while parallel parking.
2020 Ford Escape Power & Performance
There are four engines available on the 2020 Ford Escape. The smaller gas-powered engine is the 1.5 liter EcoBoost. A 2.0 liter EcoBoost is also available. The hybrid and plug-in hybrid features a 2.5-liter Atkinson-Cycle I4 engine.
2020 Brings a Wide Selection of Safety Tech
Multiple safety features are standard on all trim levels of the 2020 Ford Escape. One important safety feature is pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking. Sensors in the front of the Escape are on the lookout for cars or pedestrians that might present a collision hazard. If an object or a person is detected, the driver is alerted visually and audibly. If the driver doesn't brake, the Escape will brake automatically to help prevent a collision.
In addition to this safety feature, the 2020 Escape is also equipped with a rearview camera. This camera allows the driver to see a wide-angle view behind the Escape. This makes it safer to back out of a parking spot or down a driveway.
