The 2018 Ford F-150 and the Ram 1500 are two of the leading full-size pickup trucks in the auto industry due to their powerful engines and towing capacity. Consumers favor both trucks, which continue to evolve with their power and design and are successful in the industry. When you're ready to select the best pickup truck for your needs, there are a few ways to compare the latest Ford F-150 with the Ram 1500.
Specs at a Glance
Comfort
The 2018 Ford F-150 has more comfort compared to the Ram 1500 due to the sleek seats that are included in the cabin. Both trucks seat up to six passengers but the Ford F-150 has massaging seats that are available in the front row, which is ideal to use on long drives. It also has better standard upholstery and improved options with leather or vinyl that is available. The leather seats are firm and feature contrasting stitching for added detail. Large knobs and controls are easy to use on the dash. The cabin is also spacious and quiet, making it easy to have a conversation or listen to the radio without hearing the sound of the engine.
The Ram 1500 offers vinyl that is included in the model but only has power-adjustable front seats that are heated and ventilated. Both of the trucks provide bucket seats in the front instead of a bench that has typically been used in previous models. The Ram is also quiet inside but lacks the amount of regal and luxe accents that are included, making it feel less expensive compared to the 2018 Ford F-150.
Interior Features
The interior features determine the level of comfort and convenience for the driver and passengers, and the Ford F-150 doesn't fail to impress with a wifi hotspot, push-button start, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. A rearview camera and audio system are also offered to consumers on the latest F-150.
The Ram also integrates the latest technology but only offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Power locks and power windows on the truck cost extra, unlike the Ford F-150 where they come standard. Both cars have an optional infotainment system with up to an eight-inch screen that is available. The Ram also offers a rearview camera to drivers to reduce the risk of a collision.
Safety
Pickup trucks are known as one of the safest cars on the road; the 2018 Ford F-150 earned a Top Safety Pick rating by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The truck's excellent crash tests and safety features make it a secure vehicle to drive on the road with a long list of active safety features that are included. Drivers can take advantage of rear parking sensors, lane keep assist, forward collision warning, pre-collision assist, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, rear cross traffic alert, and a 360-degree camera.
Although the 2018 RAM 1500 has a rearview camera that is an add-on, it only offers rear and front parking sensors to reduce the risk of an accident. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave it an average of four out of five points on most of the tests that were performed.
