What's New for the Ford F-150 Lightning?

The Ford F-150 Lightning will be a new release from Ford next year. The Lightning will join a familiar family, the F-150 series of pickup trucks, but it will bring innovations and updates to the classic truck line. Ford has released some details about the F-150 Lightning in advance of its arrival. The truck is expected to have more torque than others in its class, and it will have the most torque out of any F-150 vehicle to date. When fully rigged, the F-150 Lightning can tow 10,000 pounds with a trailer towing package. It will have standard four-wheel drive and a peak payload of 2,000 pounds. The truck's cabin is projected to be upscale, quiet, and comfortable with new technology from Ford, including advanced safety aids and the latest SYNC infotainment system.

What Features Are Available?

According to Ford, the F-150 Lightning will come in three trims: the Platinum, Lariat, and XLT. Although these trims are familiar names from the other F-150 models, they will have their own distinctive set of features and amenities. Specific details are forthcoming about the trim-specific amenities you will get with the Lightning. Still, Ford has provided some insight into the general features that come with the newest F-150 model. A central focus of the Lightning's cabin is infotainment and technology.

The Lightning will be configured with one of Ford's largest touchscreen displays and the largest display screen in its class, a 15.5-inch display that uses Ford's technology called SYNC 4. This system supports wireless apps and connectivity, including Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, and Apple CarPlay, along with audio and navigation. The driver also gets a separate digital display screen with a customizable home screen. An extra trunk frees up space in the cabin, and the Ford will have reclining back seats for ultimate relaxation.

Ford F-150 Lightning Performance

The Lightning will operate with one standard electric powertrain, which includes a maximum power output of a respectable 563 HP. The Ford Lightning will also crank out 775 LB-FT in torque, giving it a "Best-in-Class" rating. The Lightning can travel 230 to 300 miles on a single electric charge, and it is equipped with four-wheel drive. The Lightning has a maximum tow capacity of 10,000 pounds.

Technologies To Keep You Safe

The Ford Lightning will be equipped with many safety aids, including semi-autonomous driving capabilities. It will also include the Ford Co-Pilot360 advanced safety aid package with forward-collision avoidance, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and more.
